Our normal loose lay mats have a 2.5cm rubber border and sit on top on the floor. Our gripper backing creates friction with the floor and with the edges being weighted this keeps the mats firmly in place.
However, there are occasions where clients may wish to have a serviced mat fitted into matwell, or into a lift, or other area where a standard loose lay mat is not practical. We are also happy to create a surface mounted matwells where required. Fitted mats are made from the same nitrile rubber backing – but are twice as thick and dimensionally stable. The washing process does shrink mats over a period of time and whilst this is not noticeable on loose lay mats, it is crucial a fitted mat stays dimensionally stable and doesn’t shrink.
The depth of a fitted mat including nylon pile an dimensionally stable backing is 9mm. Where an existing matwell may be deeper, we can in fill with either screed, marine plywood, or rubber crumb to the required depth.
We can also ‘semi fit’ mats where one edge needs to be cut around a pillar, or security device, or into a door frame.
When we professional ‘fit’ a mat, we start by making the mat 10% bigger than normal and will then ‘cut to fit’ on site. There is no such thing as a ‘perfectly square’ matwell – so whether we fit your mat, or you fit it – the only way to do it, is on site.
We are also happy to fit mats into any area such as a curved reception desk, around a revolving door or any other special shape.
We can fit both standard mats and logo mats and are more than happy to give you a free survey and consultation for your site. We will take care of every aspect of the fitting and even fit out of hours. When you are fast asleep on a Sunday night at 3am – UK Mats Fitters will be working on another project, keeping your floors looking good.
